New Features!

3 days in and we are over 300% funding!  Truly amazing!

The rallying of the film community behind this project is far greater than I could have imagined and I am so happy at the response that I've gotten!  I am so excited that I have struck upon a light metering solution that so many people say they were in search of.

New features!

In appreciation of the feedback that I have received in the last few days regarding features and a few concerns about meter functions, I'm announcing some of the new things that you can expect in your Reveni Labs Light Meter.

Position in camera shoe

There's been some comments about the meter sitting too far back in the camera shoe, which would cause the meter to protrude from the rear of the camera.  This was already on my list of alterations and I have adjusted the design to move it further forward in the shoe, as needed.  Here is a picture of the adjusted design that resolves the issue;

Exposure Compensation

Many of us familiar with digital cameras know of the exposure compensation features, generally permitting you to set a fixed adjustment to the internal light meter's reading, generally up or down 2 stops.  This is handy for bracketing or in adverse conditions where you know the meter will consistently read too high or too low due to a bright sky, snow, etc.  I have added an Exposure Compensation feature accessible through the menu which allows the user to set from -2 to +2 stops in 1/3 stop increments, to simplify dealing with adverse lighting conditions.  It's an excellent suggestion that I heard from several people and so now it's there!

Odd-number Film ISOs

I've expanded the film ISO range to include some of the common film ISOs that are not on the standard full-stop list (50, 100, 200, etc).  The new ISOs added are 80, 125, 160, 250, and 320.  There are many common and currently produced films in these ISOs and it was raised that these would be valuable to have as well.  So they've been added!

Higher apertures

Several pinhole users requested extended aperture ranges, so I have added f180 and f256 to the upper end of the aperture range.  This covers some more common pinhole aperture sizes for small and medium format cameras.  Further aperture ranges can be approximated by adjusting the exposure compensation or film ISO.  As reciprocity failure with film makes accurate metering difficult at extreme length exposures, I'm afraid I don't see a lot of value in going beyond f256.

Pledge upgrades for accessories

After many inquiries about accessories (many of which I had thought of myself) I am working on some designs for accessories that will be available as upgrade pledges.  They will be available shortly so stay tuned!

FUNDED IN 18 HOURS!

Hello everyone!

I must say that I am blown away by the response to this project.  We film shooters are a small bunch but we are a tight-knit group who just loves film and cameras, and the community response to this project has been unbelievable.  In the past 24 hours I have had messages from people all across the world saying they are passing on the message to their fellow film shooters and getting the word out.  We were able to reach our goal in only 18 hours and are still climbing!  I couldn't be happier with the kindness and support that I have been shown today.

I am working on some stretch goals to keep the fire burning and keep the pledges growing!  There will be an update shortly once I have something to show!

All the best to you and yours!
